After reading a tweet from Neil Gaiman (@neilhimself) with a photo of him at the end of a Sandman signing in 1988 I decided to fish out my old fangirl sketchbook from my days as a comic shop clerk/fangirl. There are some great little sketches in there! Paul Pope, Larry Marder, Terry Moore,  Jhonen Vasquez, Kevin McCarthy and the late Drew Hayes were all gracious enough to spend a little time chatting and drawing. One of the perks of schlepping comics all day! Most of these were done in 1996. Check them out!

PAMELA 05/06/2012

This is Pamela. I really want to curl up in her lap and read.

Check out this treasury put together by Dorota Polland which includes a piece by yours truly!

COLORBLENDY 12/20/2011

Another great Google Chrome app I've just discovered is ColorBlendy. It let's you pick two colors and then gives you a third blended from the two. You can choose to multiply the colors, screen them, overly them, dodge or burn and then it outputs the corresponding color number. What a handy tool!

FRIENDS 12/12/2011

My best friend Andi and I have been friends since we were 11 years old. That's 20 years this year! I made this a few months ago to commemorate the occasion.

It's crazy to think about all the stuff  we've been through together. I feel really lucky to have shared all this time with such a good friend.

PHOTO FUN! 12/08/2011

I was playing around with some photo editing this evening. I found a fun app for Google Chrome called Pixlr-o-matic and tried it out on these photos. I personally like more control over photo editing but this is a great program if you don't know anything about editing photos and just want to apply some cool filters.

Here are my submissions for the KALX Art contest. My entries were not chosen but it was fun to participate and be inspired to make fun KALX related art and I got the sweetest rejection letter (written in pink pen) from my friend and KALX DJ, Rubberband Girl <3

All 4 images were made using Pixelmator.

Check out the winners of the contest here!

I just snapped a couple more pics of old altars from the early 2000′s. Sadly, some stuff has fallen off of them and they’re a bit dusty, but they still have their charm, see?

Last night I made this mini altar. It has a little medallion of Santo Niño de Atocha inside it with Santa Maria on the other side. I made it out of one of those mini Altoid tins. It’s about 2 1/2″ tall. I even attached a little wire loop on the back so it can be hung on a wall. Fun!
